Services

Take time to read through the descriptions below and chose which service is best for your project. It is very important these are done in order.

Dev -> Line/Copy -> Proof

For example, hiring a copyeditor first could mean you are paying for completed scenes to get edited which may end up being cut during developmental.

I would love to talk you through the process, so reach out with any questions.

Developmental Editing

  1. A sample edit of 1,000-2,000 words from the middle of the manuscript.

  2. A full developmental read-through

  3. A detailed editorial letter addressing structure, characterization, pacing, thematic development, and narrative consistency

  4. In-manuscript notes and comments (via Microsoft Word)

  5. Actionable narrative feedback with suggestions for revision and improvement

Line Editing/Copyediting

  1. A sample edit of 1,000-2,000 words from the middle of the manuscript.

  2. Sentence-level editing for clarity, flow, style, and tone

  3. Refinement of redundancy, awkward phrasing, and wordiness

  4. Attention to narrative voice, rhythm, pacing, and emotional impact

  5. Consistent application of grammar, syntax, punctuation, and consistency (in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style)

  6. A project style sheet documenting editorial decisions, character names, terminology, capitalization, spelling preferences, and continuity notes

  7. Margin notes for stylistic or readability-related observations

Proofreading

  1. A sample edit of 500-1000 words.

  2. Final stage polish for spelling, punctuation, grammar, and typos.

  3. Formatting consistency (e.g., quotation marks, paragraph breaks, spacing)

  4. All corrections tracked via Microsoft Word using Track Changes

  5. No substantive editing or rewriting—focus is on surface-level polish

*Note: This service does not include ebook formatting, print layout design, or publishing file preparation

Beta Reading

  1. A complete read-through of the manuscript.

  2. A written feedback report covering:

    1. Chapter-by-chapter analysis

    2. Overall impressions

    3. Strengths and opportunities for improvement

  3. Margin notes highlighting key reactions, questions, or confusions (via microsoft word).

Pricing

A 30% deposit is required to reserve editing time on the calendar. The remaining balance is due upon completion of the edit prior to final file release.

Editing services are quoted within a price range. Final pricing depends on factors such as manuscript length, genre, timeline, and the manuscript’s starting condition.

If your project needs support beyond the services listed, such as coaching, beta reading, or editorial assessment, I am always happy to discuss a custom approach.
